Rupanyup Major Events is a diverse group of like-minded individuals who support local community through fundraising activities, a highlight being the annual event held in October each year, The Barley Banquet.
The Wimmera Grain Co. Barley Banquet represents agriculture, lifestyles and communities of rural Australia. The banquet also showcases locally grown produce on its three course menu - lentils chickpeas, lamb, duck, malting barlely and wine.
This black tie event is set in the heart of the Wimmera's cropping region. Each year the committee seek a new barley paddock from a local farmers crop to create a destination that surprises and heightens excitement annually.
With great music and entertainment the event attracts a broad audience from Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The event is a great day with fantastic atmosphere and fun to be had by all.
Rupanyup Major Events (RME) was founded in 1995 by its next generation farming community as an opportunity to raise funds to support local projects whilst engaging in social events that encourage connectivity and support within the agricultural community of Western Victoria.
Over the last 15 years the RME has raised over $250,000 to support local projects and infrastructure.
